This year we will be dressing up in Halloween costumes and going to Queen Alexandra elementary school for an afternoon which involves reading Halloween stories and carving pumpkins with students and giving out candies. This is a great and fun opportunity to help promote literacy in our community and encourage and motivate students to read. You will also have the opportunity to experience the classroom setting, get to know the teachers and have the chance to become regular volunteers at the school. The school is located at 1300 East Broadway and is on the route of 99 B-line. You should plan to be at the school from 12:30 to 3:00 PM. If you are interested in volunteering please email me ASAP at servicegk@gmail.com. I look forward to hear from you and thank you in advance.

Calling out to all Golden Key members:

Do you want to solve real business problems?
Are you interested in a career in consulting or business analysis?
Do you have a background in engineering, statistics, mathematics,
computer science, economics, or other quantitative fields?

If so, the Academic Committee of UBC Golden Key Chapter would like to invite you to a special information session on the UBC Master of Management in Operations Research program brought to you by the Sauder School of Business.

    Date/Time: Tuesday, October 31, 2006, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Place: Room 210, Henry Angus Building
    Presenter: Dr. Derek Atkins, Director
Centre for Operations Excellence, Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia

The 16-month UBC Master of Management in Operations Research (MM in OR) program trains students to become professional business analysts by providing rigorous technical fundamentals, practical consulting skills, and real-world problem solving experience.

UBC MM in OR students work closely with internationally renowned
faculty, business leaders, and outstanding peers to develop and realize their goals in a professional environment. Each student receives generous financial support by completing an intensive 5-month applied project with an industry partner. MM in OR graduates have excellent employment potential and embark on rewarding careers where they put their skills to use.

The MM in OR program is an ideal alternative to an MBA for technically-oriented students looking for a professional business degree that utilizes their quantitative skills. For more information, please visit www.coe.ubc.ca/mmor.

If you are interested in attending this session, please RSVP by October 26 to Annie Ko at info@coe.ubc.ca, indicating the date of the info session.
