- October 22, 2004: SISTER CHAPTER CHAT

This is an opportunity to interact with sister GK chapters from around the world (South Africa ,New Zealand, Malaysia and more)! Cross numerous international time zones and chat online with executives and members from other chapters about anything you fancy. All this, while making some friends in another part of the world that already have something in common with you, GK!
- OCT 23, 2004: MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY (See Photos)

This year, we're trying to organize the "Triple Threat" project. The Triple
Threat will be the most ambitious GK event that we have ever had for Make a Difference Day. We will need three teams of volunteers who will each be serving at different locations.
The commitment should only be for 2-3 hours from 1:00 in the afternoon till
roughly 4:00 PM.
One team will be asked to deliver pumpkins to seniors at an elderly home.
The second team will be going to carve pumpkins with a Boys and Girls Club elementary school students. And the third team will be helping out with Covenant House, a teen shelter.
We're in real need for volunteers! We're looking to get atleast 30 Golden
Key members for this event!

- OCT 25, 2004: RESUME WRITING/TRANSFERABLE SKILLS WORKSHOP

Golden Key Career Committee is inviting you to a Resume Writing and Transferable Skills Workshop on Monday. This event is open to everyone, no matter if you are in Arts or Science, first year or fourth year, a guy or a girl. If you are writing a resume now, going to apply to co-op, or planning to write a resume some time in the future, this workshop is definitely for you! Have you ever felt like you do not know what to put when it comes to skills? We will help you discover all of your potential skills and more. Pick up your pen and bring some papers and you are ready to walk away with some useful resume writing tips. Our speaker for the evening will be Coby Fulton, Coordinator of Arts Co-op. If you are interested please send an rsvp as soon as possible as seats are limited, and feel free to bring your resume with you if you already have one.

- NOV 2, 2004: TRI-MENTORING KICK OFF DINNER (See Photos)

This is dinner is targeted to people who are in Tri-mentoring program; it's your chance to start networking and enjoy the mentoring experience over some scrumptuous food! Mentors will be able to receive a brief orientation to Tri-mentoring, be introdcued to their GK senior mentees, and find out the resources to help them working with their mentees. Co-host by Golden Key UBC Chapter and UBC Career Services.

Welcome to Golden Key! Congratulations on your achievement! This ceremony will commemorate our new members for the 2004-2005 year. Meet your student executive, Golden Key Honorary Members, the Golden Key advisors for your chapter, and learn about upcoming events at your campus. Family and friends of new invitees are also welcome. Refreshments will be served.

- NOV 22, 2004: BACHELOR'S DEGREE AND THE CAREER BEYOND

Speakers, consisting primarily of recent university graduates, will discuss academic achievement in their undergraduate years and innovative learning in their current jobs. They will also highlight the connection (or lack thereof) between their degree and career.
Speakers will address the following questions during their talks:
- Academics: What type of degree or programs were completed/attempted?
- Career: What is the current nature of work being done? How was the job found? Was co-op or internship helpful for the current work? What about studies?
- Was the degree chosen with a career path in mind, or did the career follow from the degree?
- Advice for academic achievers
- Other interesting/useful information
Each speaker will talk for about 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questions. There will be an intermission. When all have spoken, a 15 minute panel session follows for general questions.

The purpose of this event is to inform Golden Key society members of the 16 scholarships they are eligible for. The scholarships reward academic excellence, community service, visual arts showcase, leadership skills, innovative learning, information technology skills, and many other high standards of achievement.
